DetroitDubstep.com presents another 18+, electric, installment of ★BASS RITUAL★ Backroom: ★ SKULLTRANE (San Francisco)MalLabel Music, Badman Press , Daly City Records) Proudly hailing from Detroit, now residing in San Francisco. Since 2007 the Bay Area is toying with disaster by laying on a huge fault line with talent such as SKULLTRANE. Producing her original jawdropping beats with releases on MalLabel Music, Daly City Records and Badman Press. She has remixed and collaborated with quite a few of the more notable bass heavy producers Mochipet, MC Zulu, Blackheart, 6 Blocc, Taso, DZ, Roommate, Mr. Boogie & Helicopter Showdown to name a few. Live, Skulltrane's legendary explosive, mind bending, multi-genre mayhem inducing live sets have led her to perform next to such legendary acts as E-40, Datsik, Reso, Nadastrom, DJ Assault, Liquid Stranger, Vaski, Starkey, Zion-i, Nasty Nasty, Stagga & Downlink. Her musical influences for the most part draw from her roots in Detroit's now infamous '90's Techno and Hip-Hop scene which she has seamlessly incorporated these inspirational elements into her own production and live performances. Fast mixing, dramatic tempo changes and massive baselines drops to your dome Skulltrane will never leave a booty un-bounced. ★ BOLD EQUATION (Chatham, Ontario) w/ Re-Run 2011 I had over a dozen releases and remixes on Tycho Records, Digital Storm Records UK, Capital Boom Records, and Champion Beats. After trekking across the great lands of Techno and House, he came upon a sound. That sound was Drum & Bass. Jumping head first into the D&B scene since its inception many years ago, 8en has forged the way for D&B in Detroit. Jamming his way into any warehouse party he could get on the decks at to co-founding Detroit's first ever D&B weekly to playing with many of the big name DJ's to pass thru here, as well as playing the Detroit Electronic Music Fest a few years back asd the only D&B artist booked that year. BTW....he tore it up. Ya should have been there. Now...8en is the co-founder of the mighty Everyday Junglist Podcast!! With over 1000 followers worldwide, EDJ is becoming a powerhouse in D&B. You never know what he play...you never know how far into his D&B history he will grab...but no doubt...8en will Fucking Kill You (figuratively). Quick mixes, mad skills and a winning smile. Hardcore Will Never Die!!!! ★ MATT CLARKE (DetroitDubstep) Matt Clarke has become synonymous with Bass Music in Detroit, be it through his unique DJ sets, his website (DetroitDubstep.com) or when he was the Drum n Bass vinyl buyer for 5 years at various record shops (Record Time, Hearwax and Melodies). Matt first began DJing in 1995, playing Acid house at various basement parties and within a few years he caught the eye of local promotion companies. In late 1996, he began playing for 2000 person warehouse parties and was gaining residencies with some of Detroit’s elite promoters. As the genre of Acid House started to dwindle into obscurity in 1997, this is around the time when Matt Clarke became enthralled with Jungle/Drum N Bass music. Using his previous connections with promoters, Matt was instrumental in bringing Drum N Bass into the main room at Techno parties and exposing the bass fueled sound to the masses. Through the next 9 years, Matt would be finding new residencies as the scene moved from legendary underground warehouses to more established clubs. He made a home out of Clutch, Carbon (Break Beat Etiquette, Pressure), Motor (Fridays), Necto, Bird of Paradise, and Forans (Substance: which is still the longest running Drum N Bass night in Detroit’s history). Then in 2005, Matt discovered Dubstep and began listening to the likes of N-Type, Marlow, D1, Skream, and Coki. He began downloading free tunes that these artists would post up on various blog sites and began playing Dubstep to crowds in the early hours of his sets. This made Matt Clarke one of the original Dubstep DJs in Detroit and in 2007 he bought the domain to DetroitDubstep.com and began a Myspace group of the same name. In 2009, his sets began to mostly consist of Dubstep while working into Drum n Bass and Drumstep as the night progressed. Now in 2012, Matt Clarke has been Djing for 17 years and has been producing multiple genres of electronic music under a few guises. DetroitDubstep.com has seen over 2 million hits and continually promotes Dubstep artists and events. His promotional company has brought out some of the biggest names within the genre, and continues to grow to larger venues. He does all this while running the website, a growing clothing line, and a healthy DJ schedule which keeps him booked somewhere almost every weekend. Matt was also an honorable mention for Detroit Artist of the Year by Real Detroit Weekly in late 2011. ★ K@DOG (Cirque Du Womp) Front Room: ★ BRIAN GILLESPIE (Databass, Throw 76, YO SUCKA!)
